The Wine Cellar of Los Gatos made its way into the food and wine scene in 1966, soon after the Grand Opening of Old Town Shopping Center. It quickly became a local haunt, well known for its live music, cheese fondue and wine selection. Prior to its opening however, Old Town was known as the University Avenue School. Many patrons have shared warm memories with us over the years of their time as students. When plans were made to turn the school into a shopping center, The Cellar was actually excavated, mostly by hand, from beneath the school's auditorium.

The floor plan has been altered a few times since then with the most current modification occuring during the Old Town renovation project, which began in June of 1997 and was completed in the spring of 2001.

The Wine Cellar Restaurant is one of Los Gatos' oldest restaurants and the only remaining original tenant of Old Town!

The "new" Wine Cellar Restaurant blends Old-World European charm with a relaxed California ambiance by combining rich tapestries, wood-paneled walls, arched doorways, stone masonry, wrought iron, mica and candle-lit booths.

The Hauck Family, who has owned the restaurant since 1990, designed the restaurant to provide a unique, memorable experience to their guests whether it be a romantic date destination, a comfortable place to meet friends or a sanctuary for hungry shoppers.
